Jan. 26, 2004

ATLANTA-Men’s track stand out Montrell Person and women’s basketball player Megan Isom were named the Wendy’s Georgia Tech Student-Athletes of the Week for Monday, January 26, 2004.

Person, a junior from Merriville, Ind., helped the Georgia Tech men’s track team to a fifth-place finish at the Clemson Invitational. He broke his school record set earlier this season with an NCAA provisional time of 7.76 in the 60-meter hurdles to capture the event. Person also ran a season-best time of 6.87 in the 60-meter dash to finish fifth. He tallied his third top-five finish for the Yellow Jackets as part of the 4×400-meter relay team that finished fifth with a time of 3:20.82.

Isom, a senior from Decatur, Ga., led the Jackets in scoring against both North Carolina and Florida State on the week, recording 16 points at UNC and then 20 points at FSU. Against the Seminoles, the senior hit five three-pointers, including four in the first half to keep the game close going into the locker room. Isom shot 50-percent from the field on the week and 83-percent from the free-throw line while making seven three-pointers in the two contests while averaging 18.0 points per game.
