Papakosta Champions High Jump at ACC Championships

THE FLATS – Georgia Tech track and field’s Shanty Papakosta once again conquered the women’s high jump and claimed the outdoor individual title on the final day of competition at the ACC Outdoor Championships.

Papakosta dominated the competition as she cleared four heights on her first attempt and was the only athlete to successfully clear her season-best height of 1.82 meters (5-11.5). The junior earned All-ACC First Team honors and is Tech’s first women’s outdoor high jump champion since the 2005 season.

Jamir Gibson and Sheleah Harris earned All-ACC Second Team honors after competing in the finals of the men’s discus and the women’s 100m. Gibson placed fifth with a mark of 56.14 meters (184-2). Harris ran a sixth-place time of 11.58.

The men’s 4x400m relay team, comprised of Jameson Miller, Jackson Sexton, Parker Buchheit and Bradley Favors, scored for the men with an eighth place and season-best time of 3:10.67.

Omar Arnaout also scored for the men’s team in the high jump with an eighth-place finish (2.00m/6-6.75). On the women’s side, Camille Trotman recorded a personal best and 10th-place mark of 1.71 meters (5-7.25).

In the men’s 5000m, James Cragin placed 13th for the Jackets with a time of 14:16.36.
