Orr Leads Tech on Final Day of ACC Outdoor Championships

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – Freshman Nigel Orr posted a fourth-place finish in the men’s triple jump with a mark of 48 feet, 1 ¼ inches, to lead Georgia Tech to an eighth-place finish (52.5 pts.) at the Atlantic Coast Conference Outdoor Track and Field Championships on Saturday.

Sophomore Jerome Miller finished sixth with a mark of 46 feet, 10 inches.

The men’s 4x400m relay team of Mario Johnson, Derek Hoye, Brandon Duckett and E.C. Gibbs finished fifth with a season-best time of 3:13.57.

Junior David Herren clocked a personal-record time of 3:49.84 in the men’s 1500 meters to finish in seventh place for the Rambling Wreck.

Freshmen Charles Rohling and Andy Powlen posted top-eight finishes for the Jackets in the men’s discus. Rohling tallied a personal-record mark of 166 feet, 11 inches, to finish fifth, while Powlen tallied a lifetime-best mark of 159 feet, 6 inches, to finish seventh.
