STANFORD, CALIF. – Georgia Tech women’s tennis player Jillian O’Neill will face California’s Mari Andersson in the first round of the NCAA Singles Championship at 11 a.m. PT on Wednesday, May 25, at the Taube Family Tennis Center on the Stanford University campus.
O’Neill is ranked 32nd in the latest Campbell/ITA College Tennis Rankings and owns a 24-14 singles mark this season. The junior from Montreal, Quebec, boasts a 10-4 record from the No. 1 spot of the lineup, where she has played since mid-March.
O’Neill has won five of her last six matches, including a pair of wins over top 20 ranked foes.
Andersson, a senior from Bastad, Sweden, is currently ranked 23rd in the country. Andersson has played mostly from the No. 2 spot in the Bears’ lineup this season with a 19-3 mark and a 28-11 overall singles record this season.
The winner will face the winner of Baylor junior Diana Nakic, ranked No. 47, and USC senior Maria Sanchez, ranked No. 2, in the second round on Thursday, May 26.
