North Begins Play In NCAA Singles Championship

One day after playing for the NCAA team title, Georgia Tech singles players Kristi Miller and Kirsten Flower will begin play in the NCAA Singles Championship on Wednesday, as will David North of the Yellow Jackets’ men’s team.

North, a senior from Durban, South Africa, plays Wednesday at 10 a.m. against Devin Mullings of Ohio State.

Miller, a junior from Marysville, Mich., is the No. 6 seed in the women’s singles draw, earning all-America honors in singles for the third straight year. Her first match is scheduled for Wednesday at 5:30 p.m. against Nadia Abdala of Arizona State.

Flower, a freshman from Columbus, Ohio, faces No. 3 seed Melanie Gloria of Fresno State Wednesday at 5 p.m.

Tech also has two doubles teams competing, beginning Thursday at times to be determined. Miller and parter Whitney McCray are the No. 3 seed in the doubles draw and will face Elan Gantcheva and Kristina Nedeltcheva of UNLV. The Jackets’ No. 2 team of senior Alison Silver and freshman Amanda Craddock also made the field and open against Alexis Prousis and Georgia Rose of Northwestern.
