ATLANTA – The sixth-ranked Georgia Tech women’s tennis team will face its last non-conference opponent of the regular season when it travels to Vanderbilt (5-4) Thursday. The match at the Brownlee O. Currey Jr. Tennis Center is scheduled for 3:30 p.m. ET.
“We have had a lot of tough matches with Vanderbilt and have come out on the short end the last couple of years,” Georgia Tech head coach Bryan Shelton said. “I expect another battle with this well coached team.”
The Commodores are 10-2 all-time against the Yellow Jackets (10-5) and have won the last two meetings. Last season, Tech dropped a tight 4-3 decision to Vanderbilt in Atlanta.
The Jackets enter the match on a two-match winning streak and have won five of their last six matches. Junior Amanda McDowell, the nation’s 18th-ranked player, has also begun to heat up, winning five of her last six matches for the Jackets.
Tech will continue its three-match road trip this weekend when it travels to North Carolina for a Saturday meeting with Wake Forest and a match with NC State Sunday.
