No. 6 Jackets Head to North Carolina for Pair of Matches

THE FLATS – Georgia Tech closes out this four-match road swing with a pair of matches in North Carolina this weekend. The sixth-ranked Jackets meet No. 1 North Carolina and No. 42 North Carolina State on Saturday and Sunday, respectively. First serve on Saturday in Chapel Hill is slated for 11 a.m. and first serve on Sunday in Raleigh is set for noon.

THE SCENE: Coming off a 2-0 weekend in Texas, the Jackets bring an 11-3 overall record into the Tar Heel State and stand at 3-1 in ACC action. Kenya Jones leads the Jackets in dual action, boasting an 11-1 mark and has won nine of her last 10 matches. The sophomore is currently on a three-match win streak. In doubles play, Jones and senior Paige Hourigan rose to the top spot in the latest ITA rankings being ranked as the No. 1 doubles tandem in the country. The duo has won four straight and owns a 15-4 overall record, including an 8-2 dual mark and 2-1 ACC ledger.

As the No. 1 team in the country, North Carolina sits atop the ACC standings, owning a perfect 5-0 mark. The Tar Heels are 16-1 overall with their only loss of the season coming in a 4-3 fashion against Vanderbilt. UNC rides a four-match win streak into the weekend. Last season, Tech defeated UNC in Chapel Hill, 4-3, but fell in the ACC Tournament Championship match, 4-3.

NC State comes into the weekend with a 9-9 overall mark and 2-3 ACC ledger. The Wolfpack most recently dropped a 5-2 loss at Miami, but have picked up wins over Florida State and Boston College. The Jackets swept the Wolfpack last season, 7-0.
