ATLANTA-Lyndsay Shosho and Georgia Tech women’s tennis made short work of Furman capturing the match 6-1 at the Bill Moore Tennis Center outdoor courts. Shosho, who is currently ranked number-62 by ITA, teamed with Maria Nieto in doubles to clinch the doubles point for the Yellow Jackets. Then in singles, she dropped only one game in a two-set match against Furman’s Mary Neill Hagood (6-0, 6-1).
Georgia Tech started off the morning sweeping all three doubles matches. Kacie Anson and Alison Silverio started the morning with an 8-2 win at No. 3 doubles. Then Shosho and Nieto clinched the doubles point winning 8-6. In the final doubles pairing, Sekita Grant and Lindsey Stauss defeated Furman’s No. 1 pair, 9-7.
In singles action, Georgia Tech’s top four positions all won in straight sets clinching the overall match for the Yellow Jackets. In the last match of the day, Anson dropped the first set (4-6) before fighting back with wins in the next sets (6-1, 6-2).
“I feel like we really played well today,” head coach Bryan Shelton stated. “The team responded well and were up for the challenge. We just played well from top to bottom.”
