CORAL GABLES, Fla. – The No. 35-ranked Georgia Tech women’s tennis team took a hard fought battle from No. 38 Miami Tuesday afternoon at the Neil Schiff Tennis Center.
Sophomores Mysti Morris and Jaime Wong defeated Miami’s Alanna Broderick and Igna deVilliers, 8-5, at No. 1 doubles, but Miami earned the doubles point with wins at No. 2 and 3.
Morris also earned the victory in the decisive singles match, outlasting No. 70 freshman Bettina Hafner of Miami at No. 2 singles. Morris topped Hafner 7-5, 2-6, 7-5 to give the Yellow Jackets the victory.
Senior Bobbi Guthrie (No. 3 singles), sophomore Jaime Wong (No. 4) and freshman Kristen Roberson (No. 6) also earned singles victories for the Yellow Jackets, who evened their record at 4-4. Miami fell to 7-3 with the loss.
