THE FLATS – No. 33 Georgia Tech women’s tennis closes out regular season action this weekend at home, hosting No. 1 North Carolina on Friday (3 p.m.) and No. 9 NC State on Sunday (noon). Both matches will take place at the Ken Byers Tennis Complex.
THE SCENE: Georgia Tech (12-9, 7-5 ACC) wrapped up regular season play on the road last weekend, visiting Clemson and capturing a 4-3 victory over the Tigers. Kenya Jones continues to lead the Jackets from the No. 1 position, owning a 26-10 overall singles record and a 9-3 conference mark.
North Carolina enters the weekend with a 24-1 overall record and an unblemished conference mark, standing at 12-0. The Tar Heels’ only loss of the season came against Georgia in the ITA National Indoor Championship match, falling 4-3. UNC sits atop the ACC standings as the only remaining undefeated team in the league.
NC State owns a 21-5 overall ledger to go along with a 10-3 conference mark. The Wolfpack have dropped two of their last three matches, most recently falling at Duke, 5-2. NC State is third in the ACC standings.
