No. 31 Andres Martin Advances at ITA All-Americans

THE FLATS – Georgia Tech men’s tennis competed again Thursday at the ITA All-Americans. In singles play, No. 31 Andres Martin had another convincing win and No. 26 ranked Marcus McDaniel dropped his match in the consolation draw.

The duo of Martin/McDaniel forms the No. 8 ranked doubles pairing but they dropped their match today to the pairing of Stewart/Henning of Georgia.

Martin had another resounding victory. He won his match over Filippo Moroni of Wake Forest, 6-1, 6-2, after winning his opening match by that same score. Next up for Martin is the No. 13 singles player Gabriel Diallo of Kentucky. Diallo dropped a set in his most recent match and was pushed to a tiebreaker in the third set.

McDaniel dropped his consolation draw match against Eric Hadigian of Pepperdine, 6-4,7-5. This concludes McDaniel’s matches at the tournament.

As a doubles pairing, Martin/McDaniel lost a tough match. The duo won their first set 6-4. The pairing from Georgia won a tight second set sending the match to a decisive tiebreaker. Martin/McDaniel could not pull it out dropping the tiebreaker 10-7.
