No. 30 Georgia Tech Men's Tennis Rallies for 4-3 Win over No. 26 Wake Forest

Despite falling to an early 2-0 deficit, four Georgia Tech men’s tennis players won singles matches to lead the No. 30 Yellow Jackets to an upset 4-3 win over No. 26 Wake Forest Sunday. With the win, Georgia Tech improves to 9-8, 3-6 ACC while the Demon Deacons drop to 14-7, 6-3 ACC.

The match began with Wake Forest winning the doubles point, taking all three positions. The Demon Deacons started with a win at No. 3 as Jordan Delass and George Gvelesiani dropped an 8-5 decision to Miriusz Adamski and Cory Parr. Wake Forest then won the point when the 42nd ranked team of Todd Paul and Andrew Hamar defeated David North and Marko Rajevac, 8-5, at No.1. Wake Forest then won the final match at No. 2 as Brett Ross and Sartor teamed to defeat Scott Blackmon and Zachary Rath, 8-6.

The Demon Deacons then pushed their lead to 2-0 as No. 13 Paul won at No. 1 singles over Rajevac, 6-4, 6-3. The Jackets got on the scoreboard with a victory at No. 5 as Blackmon posted a 6-2, 6-3 decision over Adamski. The score was then tied at 2-2 once Delass notched a 6-2, 2-6, 7-6 (3) win at No. 2 over Parr.

Tech took a 3-2 lead when North upset No. 94 Hamar at No. 3 singles, 2-6, 6-0, 6-4. The Jackets then won the match when Rath recorded a 2-6, 7-6, 6-4 win over Ross at No. 4 singles.

In the final match on the day, Gvelesiani dropped a three set decision at No. 6 singles to Liron Strauss, 6-4, 4-6, 1-0 (7).

The Yellow Jackets will return to action Thursday when they host Boston College at 2:30 at the Bill Moore Tennis Center.
