No. 27 Georgia Tech Men's Tennis Stopped By No. 4 Duke, 6-1

The No. 27 Georgia Tech men’s tennis team fell to No. 4 Duke, 6-1, Saturday afternoon. With the defeat the Yellow Jackets stand at 6-6, 0-4 ACC while the Blue Devils improve to 10-3, 2-0 ACC.

The Yellow Jackets began the match dropping the doubles point, falling at No. 1 and No. 2 doubles. Tech’s duo of Marko Rajevac and David North dropped a tough 9-8 (4) decision to the 29th ranked tandem of Joey Attas and Jonathan Stokke at No. 1 while Scott Blackmon and Zachary Rath fell at No. 2 doubles to Peter Rodrigues and Amritraj, 8-2. The Yellow Jackets lone victory in doubles came at No. 3 as Jordan Delass and George Gvelesiani teammed together to defeat Ned Samuelson and Ludovic Walter, 9-8 (7).

Tech struggled in singles, dropping five matches in straight sets. The Yellow Jackets lone victory came at No. 6 as Blackmon held on to beat Alex Stone, 6-3, 6-7 (5), 1-0 (7). In other matches, Rajevac fell to No. 5 Walter, 6-2, 6-3 at No. 1 while No. 37 Stokke beat Delass at No. 2, 6-2, 6-4. At No. 3 singles, No. 62 Rodrigues was victorious over North, 6-4, 6-2 while Zachary Rath dropped his match to Atas, 7-6 (4), 6-1. In the final match of the day, Kiril Dimitrov stopped Gvelesiani at No. 5 singles, 6-3, 6-1.

The Yellow Jackets will return to action Sunday traveling to Chapel Hill to take on No. 12 North Carolina at 1 p.m.
