No. 25 Georgia Tech Volleyball Team Ranked 19th in the BCR Rankings

Sept. 26, 2002

The No. 25 Georgia Tech volleyball team (14-2) is ranked 19th in the first release of the Ballicora Computerized Rankings (BCR). Similar to the infamous BCS, the BCR is comprised of a number of factors, including a team’s win-loss record, strength of schedule, quality wins, and the strength of their opponents’ schedules.

“This is a really good indicator of not only the strength of our schedule, but also the success that we’ve had against that schedule,” said head coach Bond Shymansky. “The Atlantic Coast Conference is very strong this year and we will have many opportunities to continue to improve this ranking.”

In the seven years since the advent of the BCR, 19th is the highest that Georgia Tech has been ranked. The only other ACC school to appear in the top 20 is North Carolina which is ranked 15.
