ATLANTA – The 22nd-ranked Georgia Tech women’s track and field team had a successful second day of competition at the three separate meets it competed at Saturday. Tech had athletes competing at the Tyson Invitational in Fayetteville, Ark., the Tiger Invitational in Clemson, S.C. and the Iowa State Classic in Ames, Iowa.
Fatamata Fofanah and Shantia Moss tied for second place in the women’s 60-meter hurdles at the Tyson Invitational. The two seniors each finished with an NCAA Championship automatic qualifying time of 8.12 seconds.
At the Tiger Invitational, Tenisha Griggs finished 10th in the 60m hurdles with a time of 9.02. In the 60-meter dash, freshman Jenae Anderson placed third with a time of 7.67. Taylor Davidson finished seventh with a time of 7.72.
Tiffany Grant placed fourth in the 400-meter with a time of 56.54. Freshman Leslie Njoku crossed the line in sixth place with a time of 56.98.
Lindsey Pickens finished seventh in the 3000-meter run after crossing the line with a time of 10:36.33.
In the field events, Antoinetta McKay finished the long jump in fourth place with a mark of 17 feet, 11 ¾ inches. Nicole Mitter placed seventh in the high jump with a mark of 5 feet, 2 ¼ inches.
Kimery Hern tossed the weight throw 57 feet, 3 inches at the Iowa State Classic for a 15th-place finish. Alana Clooten finished 19th in the weight throw with a mark of 56 feet, 2 inches.
Tech will take a week before traveling to the 2007 Atlantic Coast Conference Indoor Track & Field Championships from Thurs.-Sat., Feb. 28-March 1 in Chapel Hill, N.C.
