ATLANTA – The Georgia Tech 27th-ranked men’s and 22nd-ranked women’s track and field teams faired well at multiple meets Friday evening. The teams have split up and are competing at the Tyson Invitational in Fayetteville, Ark., the Tiger Invitational in Clemson, S.C. and the Iowa State Classic in Ames, Iowa.
Senior Fatmata Fofanah placed first in the prelims of the women’s 60-meter hurdles prelims at the Tyson Invitational. Fofanah crossed the line in a time of 8.16. Senior Shantia Moss finished third in the 60m hurdles event with a time 8.18. The hurdles finals will be run Saturday at 1:35 p.m.
At the Tiger Invitational, David Ford placed third in the men’s 60m hurdles prelims with a personal-best time of 7.98. In the women’s prelims, Tenisha Griggs placed 10th with a time of 8.97.
Freshman Janae Anderson crossed the line second in the women’s 60-meter dash with a time of 7.59. Taylor Davidson finished fifth in the 60m race with a time of 7.68.
In the men’s 5000-meter run, Matt Hickey came in sixth place with a time of 15:21.56.
Antoinetta McKay placed fourth in the women’s long jump with a mark of 17 feet, 11 ¾ inches.
The Jackets will continue competing Saturday at all three meets with results being posted on RamblinWreck.com at the conclusion of the day.
