ATLANTA — Following a three-match road swing, the 20th-ranked Georgia Tech women’s tennis team returns home to begin a three-match homestand by hosting Florida State on Saturday at 11 a.m. at the Bill Moore Tennis Center.
The Yellow Jackets (12-3, 4-1 ACC), who have matched the best start in school history, will be looking to bounce back from a 4-3 road loss to Clemson on Thursday afternoon when they face the Seminoles (13-7, 3-3 ACC).
Senior Jaime Wong, who holds a 22-7 singles record on the year and recently became the school’s all-time leader in career wins with 98 in her Yellow Jacket career, has led Tech. Wong is also the school’s career leader in doubles victories with 79. Much of her success in 2003 in doubles competition has come while partnered with freshman Kelly Anderson, as the duo holds a 10-4 record in the spring and is ranked 34th in the country.
Anderson has also been a standout singles performer for Tech since arriving in January. The Pietermaritzburg, South Africa native holds an outstanding 13-1 singles record on the year, playing primarily in the No. 3 position in the lineup and has recently cracked the national rankings.
Following the match-up with Florida State, the Jackets will conclude their regular season schedule at home with matches against both Duke and North Carolina on April 12 and 13. A full recap of all Georgia Tech women’s tennis matches can be found at www.ramblinwreck.com.
