ATLANTA – The Georgia Tech men’s and women’s track and field teams will travel to Clemson, S.C., for the Clemson Invitational on Friday, Jan. 28, in the Clemson Indoor Track & Field facility. The indoor track meet is scheduled to begin at 5 p.m.
“It’s a small meet with only four teams – Clemson, Alabama, Western Carolina, and us – but there will be some great competition on a great indoor facility,” said women’s head coach Alan Drosky. “We’ll send a smaller squad, resting some this weekend, while giving others an opportunity to continue to improve on their performances.”
Junior Chaunte Howard will try and make it 17 straight wins in the collegiate high jump this Friday and has already qualified for the indoor NCAA Championships with a automatic mark of 6’2″. The two-time NCAA high jump national champion will also compete in the long jump this weekend for the 15th-ranked Yellow Jackets.
Senior Dana Rogers posted a season-best time of 8.27 in the 60-meter high hurdles at the Kentucky Invitational to record a NCAA Provisional qualifying time. Freshman Shantia Moss also posted a provisional time in the 60m hurdles at the UK Invite with time of 8.43. Rogers and Moss rank one and two in the Atlantic Coat Conference.
Junior Andriane Lapsley tallied a NCAA Provisional qualifying mark in the 60-meter dash and ranks second in the league with a time of 7.43. Fellow junior Brandy Depland ranks fifth in the ACC in the long and triple jumps with marks of 19’4″ and 41’4.50″.
The Jackets will travel to South Bend, Ind., for the Meyo Invitational next Friday and Saturday, Feb. 4-5.
