THE FLATS — Just one game away from Super Bowl LI, #ProJackets Shaq Mason, Philip Wheeler and Morgan Burnett have their eyes on the prize as their teams are set to compete this weekend in the NFL Conference Championships round.
Mason helped clear the way for the New England Patriots to return to the AFC Championship Game with a 34-16 win over the Houston Texans in the Divisional Round on Saturday. Mason and the Patriots totaled 34 points on only 67 plays. The Patriots totaled 377 yards on offense to average 5.6 yards per play in the win.
Wheeler tallied one tackle in the Atlanta Falcons 36-20 home win over the Seattle Seahawks on Saturday afternoon to help send the Falcons to the NFC Championship Game. Wheeler and the Atlanta defense held the Seahawks to just 309 total yards, picked off two interceptions, recorded three sacks and scored a safety in the win.
Burnett and the Green Bay Packers pulled off a last second 34-31 road win over the Dallas Cowboys to advance to the NFC Championship Game. Burnett finished with three tackles, one solo and two assisted, in the win.
With the both the Packers and the Falcons winning last weekend, the last football game to take place inside the Georgia Dome will include two Jackets in Burnett (Packers) and Wheeler (Falcons), as the two teams will play on Sunday, Jan. 22, at 3:05 p.m.
