KAZAN, Russia – Georgia Tech rising junior swimmer Nico van Duijn, representing his native county of Switzerland, begins his event schedule at the 2013 World University Games on Wednesday in Kazan, Russia.
Van Duijn will compete in three events (50 fly, 100 fly and 200 fly) over the next five days. He is one of 11 Swiss swimmers in Russia for the World University Games. Two of them, van Duijn and Yannick Kaeser (University of Virginia) attend college in the United States.
Selected a Georgia Tech team captain as a sophomore, van Duijn broke Tech’s school record this past season in the 100 fly (47.07) and represented the Yellow Jackets at the 2013 NCAA Championships.
ESPN3 will have daily coverage of the World University Games swimming competition beginning Wednesday.
