Munoz Garners ACC Swimmer of the Week Honors

GREENSBORO, N.C. – After finishing on the podium and setting multiple personal bests this past weekend, Georgia Tech swimming freshman Gabe Munoz was named ACC Men’s Swimmer of the Week, the league announced Monday.

Finishing his first collegiate regular-season campaign, the freshman sprinter began the weekend by making the finals and turning in a third-place career-best time of 1:47.73 in the 200 IM. He then finished third in the 100 fly by swimming a new career-best of 47.99 on Saturday before turning around and swimming a personal-best of 1:46.63 in the 200 fly on Sunday afternoon.

Munoz battled against an Auburn Invitational field that included No. 5 Florida and No. 22 Florida State.

Georgia Tech swimming and diving retakes the pool next week for championships season when the women’s swimming team and the men’s and women’s diving team compete in Greensboro, N.C. on Feb. 20-23. The men’s team will then travel up the follow week, Feb. 27-March 2.
