THE FLATS – Georgia Tech men’s tennis ended their weekend at Vanderbilt University’s Commodore Invite with Marcus McDaniel, Elias Shokry and Rohan Sachdev claiming victories in their respective singles consolation finals.
In the flight ‘A’ southwest final, McDaniel lost his first set in a 6-7 [2] decision but rallied in the final two with 6-2, 10-7 wins over Vanderbilt’s Joubert Klopper.
In flight ‘C’, Shokry came out on top in the northwest finals and Sachdev claimed another win for the Jackets in the southwest finals. Despite falling short in the first set, Shokry bounced back and finished the tournament with a 2-6, 6-3, 10-7 win over South Carolina’s Carter Morgan. Sachdev defeated Mississippi’s Walker Stearns in a quick 6-4, 6-0 decision.
The doubles pairing of McDaniel and Shokry fell to Auburn’s Nolan/Stice, 7-5, in the green draw west finals.
