GREENSBORO, N.C. – Georgia Tech junior Alex Montgomery was named to the Atlantic Coast Conference All-Tournament second team Sunday, announced the conference office.
Montgomery, who is only the eighth Yellow Jacket to be recognized as an All-Tournament team member, averaged 14 points and 8.5 rebounds in her two games played this week. She registered her third double-double of the season in the Jackets semifinal loss to eventual conference champion Duke.
The Yellow Jacket standout was joined by ACC Player of the Year Monica Wright of Virginia, Maryland’s Lynetta Kizer, Carolyn Swords of Boston College and the ACC Rookie of the Year Marissa Kastanek of NC State on the second.
The tournament first team was made up of MVP Jasmine Thomas, Karima Christmas and Joy Cheek of Duke and NC State’s Nikitta Gartrell and Bonae Holston.
Georgia Tech will enjoy a week off as it awaits word of an NCAA Tournament at-large bid. The 2010 tournament bracket will be announced next Monday, March 15 at 7 p.m.
