Kristi Miller, Ashlee Kidd, and Jerome Miller were named Georgia Tech Student-Athletes of the Week for Monday, January 16, 2006.
Miller, a sophomore from Marysville, Mich., helped Tech to 25 overall wins in three days at the Michigan Invitational by going 3-0 in both singles and doubles. She defeated the 19th- and 48th-ranked singles players while dropping just 10 games in three singles matches. In addition, Miller teamed with Lyndsay Shosho to go 3-0 in doubles, including defeating the nation’s seventh-ranked doubles team from Cal, 8-3. Miller is currently ranked seventh in the country in singles and 26th in doubles.
Kidd, a junior from St. Petersburg, Fla., posted a pair of top-five finishes for the Jackets at the Kentucky Invitational last weekend. She won the 400-meter dash with a NCAA Provisional time of 54.09 and tallied a fourth-place finish in the 200-meter dash with a time of 24.28.
Miller, a sophomore from Stafford, Va., led the Yellow Jackets at the Kentucky Invitational last weekend. He tied a Georgia Tech school record with a clear of 7 feet, 1 3/4 inches, to finish first in the men’s high jump. That mark was a NCAA Provisional mark and a personal-best for Miller.
