Pacific Palisades, Calif. – Kristi Miller captured her second singles title of the fall when she won the consolation singles final in the qualifying round of the Riviera/ITA All-American Championships Friday morning.
The freshman improved to 15-1 with a 6-3, 6-4 victory over 88th-ranked Victoria Domina of Eastern Michigan in her 10th match of the tournament. The Marysville, Mich. native is now 7-1 against ranked opponents this fall in her two tournaments, the Baylor Invitational and the Riviera/ITA All-American Championships.
“You just have to give credit to Kristi,” head coach Bryan Shelton said, “she really toughed out this tournament until the last ball was played. She has played a lot of tough matches early this spring, and has really gotten some quality wins out of it. I’m just really proud of the way that she has played this tournament and the entire fall.”
Miller will now return to her teammates in Atlanta to prepare for the upcoming ITA Regionals in Tuscaloosa, Ala., which will begin during the last week of October.
