ATLANTA–Georgia Tech tennis standout Kristi Miller and volleyball star Lynnette Moster were named the Wendy’s Georgia Tech Student-Athletes of the Week for Monday, September 20, 2004.
Miller, a freshman from Marysville, Mich., captured the singles title at the Baylor Invitational. Miller concluded the weekend with a perfect 6-0 record in singles play, including wins over four seeded players, to capture her first tournament title as a collegian. Miller opened Sunday’s play by defeating Baylor’s Klara Zrustova in semifinal action, 6-3, 6-1, before capturing the singles championship against the fourth-seeded Carolin Walter of Baylor, 6-3, 6-7, 7-6 in the afternoon session. Miller also has a chance to win the doubles title when she pairs with Alison Silverio Thursday against Kacie Anson and Dasha Potapova at the Bill Moore Tennis Center at 3 p.m.
Moster, a senior from Liberty, Ind., led the volleyball team to three victories on the week and helped them win the Miami University Invitational. For the week, she averaged 4.33 kills per game and 3.44 digs per game while hitting .341. For her efforts, Moster was named the MVP of the tournament, the third time in her career she has earned MVP honors.
