Miller Advances at ITA Regional Championships

Tuscaloosa, Ala. – Kristi Miller advanced to the Round of 16 in the ITA South Region Championships in Tuscaloosa, Ala. Miller will face the number two seed Robin Stephenson of Alabama on Sunday Morning.

Miller improved to 18-1 in fall action with her straight set win over Katarina Palenikova of South Alabama. The freshman, who is the seventh seed in the tournament, will face Robin Stephenson of Alabama who is the number two seed.

In other action, Lydnsay Shosho beat conference foe Lindsey Deason of Florida State in the consolation bracket. Shosho then took on Melissa Minor of Alabama, and won in straight sets.

Kacie Anson picked up a win in consolation action beating Troy’s Suzanne Jones. Anson then played Melissa Applebaum of Miami and fell in straight sets.

In other consolation action, Tsitsi Masviba of Troy made short work of Lindsey Stauss winning in straight sets.

In doubles action for the Yellow Jackets, Miller and Alison Silverio downed Palenikova and Rupic of South Alabama before falling to Florida’s Frangulyan and Benik. Lindsey Stauss and Ester van Londen had a similar fate, beating Florida State’s Milhailescu and Tirapelli before falling to D’Armas and Catuk of Florida International.
