Men's Track & Field Finishes 17th at NCAA Indoor Track & Field Championships

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – The Georgia Tech men’s track & field team finished 17th overall at the 2010 NCAA Indoor Championships, which wrapped up this evening at the Randal Tyson Track Center in Fayetteville, Ark. Senior Alphonso Jordan led the Jackets on the day, winning a bronze medal with a third place finish in the triple jump .

Jordan posted the mark that won him a bronze on his first attempt of the triple jump sequence. He posted a mark of 53 feet, 4.25 inches, which equals Jordan’s school record leap that he accomplished at the ACC Indoor Championships on Feb. 27th.

With the third place finish, Jordan also earned All-American honors in the triple jump at the NCAA Indoor’s for the second straight year. In 2009, Jordan finished ninth overall to earn the honor.

Georgia Tech now looks towards opening its outdoor season on Saturday, March 20th when they host rival Georgia in the GT-Georgia Duel Meet. Action gets underway at 4:15 p.m. at the George Griffin Track next week.
