Men's Tennis Takes on SMU in NCAA Regional

May 14, 2004

The Georgia Tech men’s tennis team, ranked 28th in the latest ITA poll with an 15-7 overall record, faces third-seeded SMU in the first round of the NCAA Regional. The Jackets will begin play Friday at 4 p.m. ET at the Baylor Tennis Center on the campus of Baylor University. Immediately following Tech’s match, top-seeded Baylor will face fourth-seeded Manhattan. The first-round winners will then face each other Saturday at 7 p.m. ET to determine which team will advance to the Championship round which is held in Tulsa, Okla.

After earning an at-large bid, the Jackets have now been selected four consecutive years to postseason play, and head coach Kenny Thorne has led his teams to the tournament in five of the six years that he’s been at the helm of the program.

Fans may follow livestats on www.ramblinwreck.com for Friday and Saturday’s match, if necessary.
