Men's Tennis Signs Transfer Gabriele Brancatelli

THE FLATS – Gabriele Brancatelli has officially committed to join the Georgia Tech men’s tennis program. Brancatelli will transfer to Tech after being a member of two other collegiate programs, Purdue and Tennessee. Brancatelli is set to enroll in classes and join the team in January.

The sophomore spent his freshman campaign at Purdue. During the 2021-22 season, Brancatelli tallied a 16-11 overall singles record which include a 10-4 dual match record and a 6-2 record while playing at the No. 2 lineup spot.

Prior to his collegiate career, Brancatelli was a blue-chip, five-star recruit and climbed as high as No. 27 in the nation according to TRN. Brancatelli knocked off multiple ITF Top-100 World Juniors during his career and was a member of the team that won the Italian National Junior Championships. He has also acquired a UTR rating of 12.43.

Brancatelli was born in Florence, Italy. He spent time living in Florence, New York and Palm Beach.

“We are excited to be welcoming Gabriele to the Georgia Tech family. He brings valuable top of the lineup college experience. His work ethic and commitment to getting better will fit in well with our team,” Byers Men’s Tennis Head Coach Kenny Thorne said.

Competitive Drive Initiative
In a unified endeavor, Georgia Tech, the Georgia Tech Foundation, Georgia Tech athletics and the Alexander-Tharpe Fund have come together to accelerate funding for student-athlete scholarships with the launch of the Competitive Drive Initiative. The initiative kicks off with the Accelerate GT Match Program, where any new gift to the A-T Fund’s Athletic Scholarship Fund made through Dec. 31 will be matched dollar-for-dollar by the Georgia Tech Foundation, up to $2.5 million. Should Accelerate GT reach its $2.5 million fundraising goal, the matching gift would result in a $5 million impact for Georgia Tech athletics.
