The No. 55 Georgia Tech men’s tennis team lost to rival Georgia 5-2 on March 3 inside the Bill Moore Tennis Center on the Georgia Tech campus.
The match was clinched when Nicolas Boeker of Georgia defeated Yellow Jacket Alex Navinkov 7-6 (5), 6-2 in the No. 5 singles spot.
The Jackets started out the day by winning the doubles point. No. 1 doubles partners Roger Anderson and David Wright beat Matias Boeker and Travis Parrott, who are currently ranked second by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association, 9-8 (5). Sergio Aguirre and Jason Jeong netted a 9-7 victory over Lesley Joseph and Brandon Wagner in the No. 3 doubles match.
Romain Coirault pulled in the only single’s victory for Tech beating 11th ranked Matias Boeker of Georgia 6-4, 3-6, 6-4 at No. 1 singles. David Wright of Georgia Tech and Chad Carlson of Georgia played the only other three-set match, with Carlson winning 6-7 (2), 6-3, 6-2.
