Men's Tennis Concludes Day 2 of SIC

ATHENS, Ga – Georgia Tech men’s tennis concluded the second day in Athens, unable to grab a win in the quarterfinals, but battling back in the consolation bracket. 

In the Red singles quarterfinals, Kris Arora fell to UGA’s No. 3 Miguel Perez Pena 6-2, 6-2, but battled back to clinch a win in consolation play in a hard-fought victory against Clemson’s Noa Vukadin 6-3, 2-6, 6-4. 

Tech’s No. 4 Gaberiele Brancatelli would face the same fate, falling to UGA’s Thomas Paulsell in straight sets 6-1, 6-3, before battling back against Georgia’s Ryan Colby, taking the match 6-3, 6-1 in consolation play. 

Richard Biagotti also found success in the red draw consolation, defeating both UNCW’s Reece Falck (6-3, 7-5) and Clemson’s Marko Mesarovic (6-2,6-0). 

Rohan Sachdev had success in the Black singles draw for the Yellow Jackets. He would defeat UNCW’s Jordi Domenech (6-4, 2-6, 6-2) before advancing to win by default over Vanderbilt’s Alex Hillhouse.  

Elias Shokry would fall short in the Black singles quarterfinals to Georgia’s Cyrus Mahjoob, 6-7 (4-7), 7-5, 6-2, before rebounding in consolation. He took on UNCW’s Jordi Domenech and would be victorious in a straight-set match, 7-5, 6-4.

The Yellow Jacket’s will be back in action on Sunday, Oct. 1 at 9 a.m. with doubles play in Day 3 of the Southern Intercollegiate Championship.
