ATLANTA – The Georgia Tech men’s swimming team is set for the 2010 ACC Championships this weekend. The event, hosted by the University of North Carolina, begins Wednesday evening and concludes Saturday night.
Fans are reminded that championship finals will be video-streamed on theACC.com Thursday-Saturday 7-9 p.m. All championship information can be found at http://www.theacc.com/championships/10-sd-championship.html.
This weekend, Tech is looking to improve on a fourth place finish in last year’s ACC Championships held at the University of Maryland, marking the second straight year that the Yellow Jackets finished in the fourth spot. Junior Nigel Plummer will start the championships seeded first in the 50-free and second in the 100-free, while senior Gal Nevo is seeded second in the 200-IM and sophomore Matthew Vaughan is third in the 100-breast.
Overall, Georgia Tech had unprecedented success at last year’s ACC Championships, as Yellow Jacket swimmer broke 15 school record and eight ACC Records. In all, nine Tech swimmers punched their tickets to last season’s NCAA Swimming Championships with their performances in College Park.
