BLACKSBURG, Va. — On day one of the ACC Indoor Championships, the men and women squads both raced in the distance medley relay.
The women were led by Annie Gallagher, Jordyn Tyndall, Haley Unthank, and Amy Ruiz, and would finish in 8th place, with a season best time of 11:29.62.
“That was a great effort for the women,” said women’s track and field head coach Alan Drosky. “We thought we had an outside chance to score but knew we had to have a good day. The three freshmen were solid on the first three legs and Amy ran a tremendous anchor leg with by far the best relay leg of her career.”
In the men’s distance medley relay, Nahom Solomon, Lionel Jones, Bennett Hillier, and Avery Bartlett kicked off action for the men the way. They finished in fourth with a time of 9:47.34.
Tomorrow’s activities will begin with the men’s high jump at 12:00 p.m.
After day one events the women are tied in a tie for 11th while the men are currently in 4th.
DMR Women:
Annie Gallagher, Jordyn Tyndall, Haley Unthank, and Amy Ruiz: 8th place, 11:29.62, season-best time
DMR Men:
Nahom Solomon, Lionel Jones, Bennet Hillier, Avery Bartlett: 4th place, 9:47.34
