Megesi Places 139th at Cross Country Championship

LAWRENCE, Kan. – Georgia Tech’s Becky Megesi finished 139th in the women’s division of the NCAA Cross Country Championship held Monday in Lawrence, Kan. Megesi turned in a time of 18:34.48 on the 5,000-meter run that was held at Rim Rock Farm.

Megesi, a junior from Jonesboro, Ga., is only the second Tech woman to compete in the NCAA Championship, joining Beth Mallory, who qualified in both 1995 and ‘96. Mallory won all-America honors in the ‘95 event.

During the regular season, Megesi captured the Georgia Intercollegiate and the Troy State Invitational titles, and also took a pair of second place finishes. She was 10th in the NCAA District IX meet in a career-best time of 17:35, as she captured an at-large berth for the NCAA meet.
