McMillan School Record Highlights Last Chance Invite

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Highlighted by a school record in the 3,000 meter run by DJ McMillan, the Georgia Tech men’s and women’s track and field teams finished competition at the Last Chance Invitational at the Birmingham Crossplex.

McMillan’s time of 8:09.67 was not only a school record, but a complex record and a first place finish for the senior. Running alongside McMillan was Patrick Barron who finished in second place with a personal best time of 8:12.64.

Also with a personal record time was Shawn Roberts who crossed the line in 1:50.04 in the 800m run which ranks seventh in the ACC this season.

Also competing on the day were the pole vault corps of Erica Penk, Nikita Kirillov and Aaron Unterberger. Penk finished in sixth place amongst the women’s competitors with a height of 3.80m. Kirillov took home fourth place with a launch of 5.19m (17-0.25) while Unterberger also finished sixth with a leap of 5.05m (16-6.75).
