McKay To Be Inducted Into Atlanta Sports Hall of Fame

ATLANTA — Former Yellow Jacket and U.S. Olympic track standout Antonio McKay will join an elite group of athletes on Feb. 7, when he is inducted into the Atlanta Sports Hall of Fame with the class of 2014.

The hall’s 10th anniversary enshrinement ceremony will take place at the Buckhead Theatre, beginning with a reception, buffet, silent auction and raffle at 5:30 p.m., followed by the induction at 7:15 p.m.

McKay, who ran the 400 meters at Georgia Tech from 1984-85, joins a stellar class that includes former Atlanta Braves and Hawks owner Ted Turner, Major League Baseball All-Star John Smoltz, 1980 Heisman Trophy winner George Rogers, Women’s Basketball Hall of Fame member Cindy Brogdon and Cobb County high school football coach and athletic director Corky Kell.

McKay is a three-time All-American in the 400 meters at Georgia Tech and won three Olympic medals. McKay competed in the 1984 and 1988 Olympics, winning two gold medals with the 4×400-meter relay team and one bronze medal in the 400 meters.

In addition to being a three-time All-American at Georgia Tech, McKay is a two-time NCAA Champion in the 1984 indoor and outdoor 400 meters.
