Martin and McDaniel Earn NCAA Tournament Bids

THE FLATS Andres Martin and Marcus McDaniel will represent Georgia Tech in the single and doubles NCAA Men’s Tennis Championships, the NCAA announced on Tuesday.

Martin will compete in the singles draw. He has been ranked as high as No. 9 in the ITA singles rankings earning ACC Co-Men’s Tennis Player of the Week on February 15 after beating the then No. 25 ranked Phillip Henning. During the fall season, Martin won the singles draw of the ITA Southeast Regionals.

McDaniel will join Martin to form the doubles team that has ranked as high as No. 3 in the ITA doubles rankings earning ACC Doubles Team of the Week on March 22 after earning the highest ranked doubles win in the conference that week. During the fall season, Martin/McDaniel won the doubles draw of the ITA Southeast Regionals and made it to the semifinals of the ITA Fall Nationals.

The singles and doubles competition will be conducted May 23-28 at the Khan Outdoor Tennis Complex in Champaign, Illinois, after the conclusion of the team championship.
