ATLANTA – Georgia Tech’s Brandon Makinson finished ninth in the one meter springboard, while Hannah Krimm registered an 11th place finish in the three meter on the second day of the 2010 NCAA Zone B Diving Championships held at the GT Aquatic Center.
Makiinson, who placed 11th in the three-meter spring board yesterday, followed it up with an impressive top-ten finish in the one-meter. The freshman from Alberta, Canada qualified for the finals of the event after posting a combined score of 308.40 in preliminaries. In ninth after the preliminary round, Makinson held down the spot after the finals, posting a 306.30 to end up with a combined score of 614.70.
Krimm, competing in the final event of her career at Georgia Tech, qualified for the finals of the three-meter springboard after narrowly missing out on qualifying for the finals of yesterday’s one meter. The Upper Arlington, Ohio native posted the eighth best mark in preliminaries with score of 292.20, then followed up in the finals with a 284.00 to register a combined score of 576.20 to place 11th.
The only other diver on the afternoon for Tech was freshman Chris Khosravi, who failed to qualify for the finals of the one-meter after posting a score of 252.25 in preliminaries.
The 2010 NCAA Zone B Diving Championships will come to an end tomorrow beginning at 11 a.m. at the Aquatic Center with the preliminaries of the women’s platform.
