Mahoney, Person and Rhett Qualify for Finals at NCAA Track & Field Championships

NCAA Track & Field Championships Results.

AUSTIN, Texas – Seniors Brendon Mahoney and Amandi Rhett and junior Montrell Person qualified for the finals to lead the Georgia Tech men’s and women’s track and field teams on Thursday night at the NCAA Track and Field Championships. The outdoor national championship meet will continue on Friday, June 11, on the campus of the University of Texas.

Person posted a personal-record time of 13.53 in the 110-meter high hurdles to finish fifth in the preliminaries. He will compete in the finals of the 110mHH on Friday at 10 p.m. ET.

Rhett moved on to the finals with a personal-record time of 23.24 in the 200-meter dash and just missed qualifying for the finals in the 100-meter dash with a lifetime-best time of 11.29 in the prelims. The qualifying time for the finals in the 100 was 11.26. The finals of the 200 are scheduled for Saturday, June 12, at 9:15 p.m.

Mahoney advanced to the finals of the 1500 meters with a time of 3:47.02 in the prelims. The finals of the 1500 are scheduled for Saturday night at 8 p.m. ET.

Senior Michael Massey finished 22nd in the prelims of the men’s high jump with a clear of 6’10.75″. The qualifying mark for the finals was 7’1.50″.

The women’s 4×100-meter relay team of Dana Rogers, Ashlee Kidd, Andriane Lapsley and Rhett will compete in the finals on Friday at 8 p.m. ET. The top nine teams from Wednesday night advanced to the finals and the top eight will earn All-America honors.

Kidd and sophomore Brandy Depland will compete in the prelims of the 400 meters and women’s triple jump on Friday at 8:15 and 8:30 p.m. ET, respectively.

Sophomore Chaunte Howard will compete in the finals of the women’s high jump on Friday at 8 p.m. ET. The prelims of the high jump were cancelled due to inclement weather on Wednesday night.
