Levens Leads Tech Track and Field on Day One of Kentucky Invitational

LEXINGTON, Ky. – Senior Angela Levens claimed first place in the women’s weight throw, as the Georgia Tech men and women’s track and field teams completed competition in the first day of the Kentucky Invitational at the University of Kentucky’s Nutter Field House.

Levens posted the Jackets’ lone win of the evening, as she claimed victory with a mark of 58’06.50″. Junior Jamie Ostrov finished second in the high jump, clearing 5’07.25″, while teammate Jennifer Ledbetter finished sixth in the same event. Freshman Shanta Smith added a fifth-place finish in the triple jump with a leap of 39’03.75″.

On the men’s side, junior Chris Crawley was fourth in the triple jump with a mark of 46’04.75″, while teammate Spencer Irvine was seventh in the same event. Other strong performances from the Jackets came from Ian Brewer, who was seventh in the weight throw, and freshman Alex Berardi, who was 11th in the pole vault with a season-best mark of 14’00.50″.

Action will resume tomorrow at 10:30 a.m.
