Next Game: Saturday at Georgia, 7:45 p.m. (ESPN)
This is a great week, as even though I did not grow up in Georgia nor go to school here, I have come to love Tech-Georgia almost as much as Ohio-State Michigan. The stories make it for me, so I want you to send me some.
Open category.
Every topic about this game, this rivalry, this season, these coaches . . . it’s all on the table.
I admit to having a soft spot for anecdotes like . . . “I had given up, and was leaving the stadium when I heard this huge cheer behind me, so I went back and . . . we won,”-type tales.
But you choose. Let’s talk . . .
Upsets (like two years ago).
Do-overs (like in 1999, when George O’Leary sent forth the field goal unit on third down rather than fourth in overtime, and then, after the Doggies blocked the field goal try and Tech recovered, the Jackets re-kicked on fourth down and won the game). Critical turnovers (like Jasper Sanks’ fumble in ’99 when the Doggies were driving to win and in the shadow of the goal line with 13 seconds left, and Quincy Carter’s interception in overtime in ’99).
Huge individual efforts.
Big plays (like Roddy’s run two years ago).
Miserable outcomes where it just seemed like fate played the biggest role (like 2006).
Bad officiating (like 2006).
Bring it, and we’ll build a big anthology, or, if enough feedback comes rolling in, maybe two.
Send the goodies to stingdaily@gmail.com. And don’t wear read or black this week, for cripe’s sake.
