Leonard Named Witten Man of the Year Semifinalist

THE FLATS – Georgia Tech senior tight end Dylan Leonard (Milton, Ga./Milton H.S.) was selected as one of 20 semifinalists for the 2023 Jason Witten Collegiate Man of the Year Award on Wednesday. The Jason Witten Collegiate Man of the Year award recognizes college football’s best leaders who exhibit exceptional courage, integrity and sportsmanship both on and off the field.

Leonard came to Georgia Tech as a walk-on in 2019 and appeared in all 12 games as a true freshman, earning a scholarship in the process. He has gone on to play in 44 games and make 25 starts as a Yellow Jacket over the course of his five-year career. He has established himself as one of the team’s unquestioned leaders, serving as a game captain on multiple occasions and representing the Jackets at the 2022 Atlantic Coast Conference Football Kickoff.

In the classroom, he earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Georgia Tech in December 2022 and is currently pursuing a master’s degree in analytics. He is a recipient of the ACC’s prestigious postgraduate scholarship award, a Campbell Trophy semifinalist (nation’s top scholar-athlete), a member of the National Football Foundation Hampshire Society (for academic achievement), an ACC all-academic team selection and a four-time member of the ACC academic honor roll.

Off the field, he is heavily involved in community service activities, including at Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta, where he visits and encourages patients. His friendship with a young leukemia patient has been chronicled by multiple media outlets and television broadcasts.

Three finalists for the 2023 Jason Witten Collegiate Man of the Year Award will be named on Dec. 13 and the winner will be announced at a ceremony in Frisco, Texas, on Feb. 15, 2024. The winner will receive a $10,000 contribution made in his name to his school’s athletic scholarship fund from Jason Witten’s SCORE Foundation, the official charity of 16-year National Football League standout Jason Witten and his wife, Michelle. The SCORE Foundation, founded in 2007, has positively impacted tens of thousands of children and families in Texas and Tennessee over the last 16 years. The foundation operates its nationally-recognized SCOREkeepers program, which places trained male mentors on staff to work with children at family violence shelters, at nine shelters in the two states.

Leonard and the Yellow Jackets begin a two-game homestand on Saturday when they host Boston College for a noon kickoff at Bobby Dodd Stadium at Hyundai Field. Tickets are available and can be purchased online by clicking HERE.

Fans can also purchase tickets to see Georgia Tech (3-3, 2-1 ACC) – which stands in fifth place in the 14-team ACC standings – up to three times in its final four home games with a three-game mini pack. Mini packs, which begin at just $150 for packages that include Clean, Old-Fashioned Hate, not only come at a lower cost than purchasing single-game tickets individually, but also include better seats than are available through single-game purchases.
