GREENSBORO, N.C. – Florida State’s Garrett Johnson and Georgia Tech’s Andriane Lapsley were named the Atlantic Coast Conference Indoor Track and Field Performers of the Week on Monday afternoon.
Johnson posted a provisional qualifying mark in the men’s shot put competition in his first meet of the season at the Clemson Opener. The Tampa, Fla., native finished first in the event after establishing a throw of 61′ 10.5″. Johnson’s mark was less than two feet off the indoor school record at Florida State.
Lapsley compiled three top-three finishes at the Clemson Opener including an NCAA provisional mark in the women’s 60-meter dash to lead the Yellow Jackets. The junior from San Antonio, Texas posted a personal-best mark of 7.43 to finish as the top collegiate performer in the event. Lapsley also tallied a career-best mark of 40′ 8.25″ in the triple jump to finish third and then placed second in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 8.54.
The Yellow Jackets will participate in the Kentucky Invitational in Lexington, Ky., this Friday and Saturday, Jan. 14-15.
