Andriane Lapsley, David North, and Lyndsay Shosho were named Georgia Tech Student-Athletes of the Week for Monday, April 3, 2006.
Lapsley, a senior from San Antonio, Texas, led the Georgia Tech women’s track and field team at the Yellow Jacket Invitational this past weekend in Atlanta. Lapsley won the 100-meter dash with a NCAA East Region qualifying time of 11.37. In the 200-meter dash, Lapsley again crossed the finish line in first place with a NCAA Region and personal-record tying time of 23.23. She attained her third NCAA Region qualifying mark of the meet in the 4×100-meter relay, where Tech finished second with a time of 44.65.
North, a sophomore from South Africa, helped the men’s tennis team snap an eight-match losing streak by defeating Virginia Tech. On the week, David won two singles matches and teamed with Marko Rajevac to win two doubles matches, including an upset of the 18th ranked doubles team from Virginia.
Shosho, a senior from East Amherst, NY, led the women’s tennis team to two conference wins, including an upset of fifth-ranked Miami. Against Miami, she had a key victory at No. 2 singles while against Florida State, she recorded wins in singles and doubles. Shosho stands at 7-0 in singles matches in ACC play this season.
