ATLANTA – Ashlee Kidd will be the lone representative of the No. 16 Georgia Tech women’s track and field team as she looks to improve her times at the Iowa State NCAA Qualifier meet held in the in the Lied Recreation-Athletic Facility this Saturday, March 3, in Ames, Iowa.
“Kidd already has a time that has always gotten into the NCAA meet, but she is going to solidify and sharpen her time for the national meet,” said head coach Alan Drosky. “Iowa State has an exceptional facility and a 300-meter Mondo track that always produces some of the best times in the country.”
Kidd, a senior from St. Petersburg, Fla., has already ran NCAA provisional qualifying times in both the 200- and 400-meter dash this season. She is currently ranked ninth in the nation in the 400-meter dash with a season-best time of 53.22. Kidd also is ranked 14th in the 200-meter dash with a best time of 23.44.
Last weekend, Kidd ran away from the field earning Atlantic Coast Conference Indoor titles in both the 200 and 400. Kidd also set the Clemson Indoor Facility track record in the 200.
Ashlee Kidd will be on the blocks beginning at 1:35 p.m. for the 400 followed by the 200 at 2:05 p.m.
Results from the Iowa State NCAA Qualifier meet will be posted at the end of the day on the official Georgia Tech website (www.ramblinwreck.com).
