Kidd Leads Tech on Day One of NCAA Outdoor Championships

SACRAMENTO, Calif. – Junior Ashlee Kidd advanced to the semifinals of the women’s 400-meter dash with a qualifying time 52.81 to lead Georgia Tech at the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships on Wednesday night.

Kidd, a native of St. Petersburg, Fla., will run in the semis on Friday night at 8:25 p.m. ET.

The women’s 4×100-meter relay team of freshman Shantia Moss, Kidd, senior Andriane Lapsley and freshman Jacqua Williams finished in ninth place in the prelims with a time of 44.16.

Junior Fatmata Fofanah and Moss qualified for the semifinals of the women’s 100-meter high hurdles for the Jackets with qualifying times of 13.38 and 13.45, respectively. In the semis, Moss tallied a 10th-place finish with a time of 13.18, while Fofanah finished 16th with a time of 13.53.

Lapsley, a senior from San Antonio, Texas, finished 25th in the prelims of the 200-meter dash with a time of 23.93.

Senior Brandy Depland will compete in qualifying rounds of the women’s triple jump on Friday, beginning at 4 p.m. ET.
