Lexington, Ky. – Junior All-American Ashlee Kidd clocked a NCAA Provisional time of 54.09 in the women’s 400 meters to lead the Georgia Tech men’s and women’s track and field teams at the Kentucky Invitational on Saturday afternoon.
Kidd, a native of St. Petersburg, Fla., posted a fourth-place finish for the Yellow Jackets in the 200-meter dash with a time of 24.28.
Redshirt freshman Andy Powlen finished fourth in the men’s shot put with a throw of 55 feet, 5 ½ inches, to lead the men’s team. Freshman Nigel Orr finished fifth in the men’s triple jump with a mark of 48 feet, 10 ¼ inches.
Senior All-American Andriane Lapsley posted a pair of top-five finishes for the Jackets. Lapsley finished second in the women’s 200-meter dash with a personal-best tying time of 24.05 and finished third in the 60-meter dash with a time of 7.53.
Sophomore Shantia Moss clocked a NCAA Provisional time of 8.35 in the women’s 60-meter high hurdles to finish in third place for Tech.
Freshman Kimery Hern tallied a third-place finish in the women’s discus with a mark of 144 feet, 7 inches.
In the women’s 800 meters, junior Jenny Sims and senior Misty Dirksen tallied top-five finishes for the Jackets. Sims ran a time of 2:12.30 to finish fourth, while Dirksen crossed the finish line in fifth with a personal-record time of 2:15.20.
Sophomore Derek Hoye and freshman E.C. Gibbs rounded out top finishes for the men’s team. Hoye clocked a time of 47.72 in the 400 meters to finish seventh, while Gibbs finished eighth in the mile with a time of 4:19.17.
The Yellow Jackets will be back in action at the Clemson Classic, next Friday and Saturday, Jan. 20-21.
