Kidd, Grant Lead Tech on Day One of Meyo Invitational

SOUTH BEND, Ind. – Ashlee Kidd crossed the finish line in first place in the women’s 300-meter dash in a time of 37.48 to lead the Georgia Tech track and field teams at the Meyo Invitational on Friday.

Freshman Tiffany Grant placed second behind Kidd, finishing the race with a time of 39.46 in the 300. Junior Antoinetta McKay finished the 300 in 11th place with a time of 40.70.

Freshman Billy Mateker placed 12th overall in the men’s 1000-meter run with a time of 2:30.76. Also in the 1000, junior Derek Hoye finished the race 18th in a time of 2:34.21.

Senior Lindsey Vincent finished the women’s long jump with a mark of 18 feet, 7 ¾ inches. On the men’s side, senior James Lemons landed at 23 feet, 5 ¼ inches to finish seventh in the long jump. Freshman Alphonso Jordan placed 13th in the long jump with a mark of 22 feet, 9 ¼ inches.

The Yellow Jackets will return to action tomorrow morning with the women’s 3,000-meter run beginning at 9:30 a.m.
