Men’s Results | Women’s Results
BISHOP, Ga. – The Georgia Tech men’s and women’s cross country teams opened the 2013 season with at the UGA Invite at the UGA Equestrian Complex in Bishop, Ga. Jeremy Greenwald led the way for the men, while Katie Townsend finished first for the Tech women.
Heading into the season-opening meet and the first of three meets in the state of Georgia this season, the Tech men’s squad was ranked fourth in the South Region and were picked to finish 10th in the ACC, while the women were picked to place 12th in the league.
Greenwald finished third of 63 runners in a team-leading 8K time of 26:01.75. He was followed by senior Alec Clifford (sixth, 26:12.85), senior Shawn Roberts (seventh, 26:13.61), junior Brandon Lasater (eighth, 26:19.22), freshman Sidney Speir (12th, 26:47.24) and junior Nat Estes (15th, 26:52.54) to round out Tech’s finishers.
The Yellow Jacket women were led by Katie Townsend who finished third of 74 runners with a 5K time of 18:48.78. She was followed by junior Kelly Meyer (19:09.47), sophomore Caroline Kissel (12th, 19:22.77), Rachel Hammond (18th, 19:32.74) and Diana Pressel (20th, 19:36.10) to round out Tech’s top finishers.
Tech returns to action on Saturday, Sept. 14 at the Furman Cross Country Classic in Greenville, S.C. Race time is set for 8:30 a.m.
